Have you ever seen a cat as emaciated as this one? It’s beyond my imagination, looking like a moving skeleton. When I first laid eyes on it, besides being shocked, I felt an immense sense of sorrow. Its body was so skeletal that it seemed to be contorted all over. Its back was covered in prominent veins and vertebrae. The entire fur on its body had been shaved off, leaving only the head. Too weak and exhausted, the cat paid little attention to its surroundings. It allowed us to touch it without resistance. I wrapped it in a thin blanket and quickly brought the animal to a nearby veterinary hospital.
Although we knew the prognosis was grim and mentally prepared ourselves, the moment we learned the results of the cat’s examination, tears couldn’t be held back. The pitiful cat was severely malnourished, and the prolonged starvation had affected vital organs such as the kidneys, heart, and liver. It had calicivirus mouth inflammation and a systemic skin disease. Most heart-wrenching of all was the distended belly filled with waste and debris. Half of its right jaw was fractured. The veterinarian also discovered that the animal had been previously neutered, indicating that it had once had an owner but was abandoned.
A truly pitiable cat. To treat it, the cat had to stay in the hospital continuously for the first month. Countless medications and nutrients were administered into its body. Every day, it made an effort to eat and exercise. Soon after, it gradually and rapidly started to recover. In just eight months, it transformed completely into a new cat. It gained weight and became plump. Its adorable appearance made everyone who met it want to cuddle and stroke its head.
